Coach Johnson comes to County Upper after a one year stint assisting the head coach at the London School of Economics. Johnson help guild the Beavers to a 9-1 record, and the BUSA Eastern D1 conference crown.

Prior to joining the London School of Economics coaching staff, Johnson spent the 2006-07 season at the University of Texas-Pan American as a Graduate Assistant coach.

During his lone season with UTPA, Johnson was apart of a staff which led the Broncs to a 14-15 over all record, an improvement from the team’s 6-24 record prior to the staff’s arrival in 2006. UTPA finished the 2006-07 season as the NCAA Division I Top Regular Season Turnaround Team in the State of Texas.

The Broncs also finished the season with an 11-2 home court record, which was one of the best home records in program history.

Before joining the University of Texas-Pan American, Johnson spent three seasons at the University of South Dakota, and served as Student/Graduate Assistant Coach under Coach Boots who is one of the most respected coaches in NCAA DII. During his time at USD the Coyotes recorded a 70-26 record. The Coyotes posted three consecutive NCAA DII Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen during the 2004-05 season, as well as winning the NCC Conference Tournament in 2005.

Prior to joining the University of South Dakota, Johnson spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the London Towers from 2001-03. During Johnson’s tenure the Towers participated in the Euroleague, NEBL and BBL. Johnson helped guild the Towers to a Southern Conference title during the 2001-02 season, as well as the BBL Trophy Final during the 2002-03 season.

Johnson started his coaching career in 2000 at Des Moines Area Community College as the head student manager. During his lone season as a student manager, the Bears recorded a 29-4 record and finished ranked 4th in the National poll. The Bears also won their conference for the first time in school history.

The County Upper Head Coach started his collegiate career as a student-athlete at Des Moines Area Community College where he was a varsity player during the 1999-00 season.

Throughout Johnson time as a basketball coach he has coached against current NBA players plus some of the top NCAA D1 and European club teams. This experience will prove priceless in helping develop the players at County Upper.
