Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk:—– Solid guard play helped County Upper (10 – 10) defeat St George School 98 – 37. With the win CU improved its record to 10 wins and 10 losses, and earned themselves a place in the last 32 schools of the Schools U19 National Tournament.

County Upper played some great defence during the first seven minutes to keep St George scorless, but were cold on the offencive end as they were only able put 7 points on the score board. County Upper finished the quarter with a 10 point lead 15 – 5. 

Both teams started the second quarter trading baskets, until CU woke up and put together a 27 – 6 run to blow open a 33 point lead 50 – 17. The second quarter finished with County Upper taking a 32 point lead into the lockeroom 52 - 20.

The third quarter started the same way as the first half finish as County Upper dominated the whole quarter, and holding St George to only 5 points while putting 26 points on the score board, to increase County Uppers lead to 53 points 78 – 25.

The final quarter started with St George going on a 10 – 6 run, shortening County Uppers lead to 49 points 84 – 35, but CU responded with a 14 – 2 run of their own to finish out the game 98 – 37 winners.

County Upper now face Moulten Basketball Academy in the last 32 teams of the National Schools U19 Tournament. This will be played on the 2nd of March at County Upper School in Bury St Edmunds. Game time is at 4:15pm.
