Barking and Dagenham, Essex——- County Upper School (4 – 3) suffered a 92-43 setback to Barking Abbey basketball Academy on Wednesday (Nov. 12) night at Barking Abbey in Essex.
County Upper held the lead against Barking Abbey for the first 1:30 minutes of play but turned it over when R. Martin scored two giving Barking a one point lead with 8:30 minutes left on the clock.
For the remainder of the first half cold shooting and nerves by CU combined with aggressive offence and rebounding from Barking made the game one sided. CU finished the first half shooting 8% from 3pt range and 16% from the field (4-25). CU entered half time trailing 11-50.
The third quarter started off as a back and forth dual for the first four minutes. Things all changed though at the 7:30 minute mark when Barking went on a 10-0 run to increase their lead to 49, CU then quickly responded with a 9-0 run of their own. The third quarter finished 71-30 to Barking. The last quarter saw both teams trading baskets until the 6:00 minute mark when Barking went on an 8-0 run to increase their lead back to 49. The second half finished 42-32 to Barking.
County Upper School will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, November 19th when they travel south to play Colne basketball Academy. Tip-off is at 4:00pm.
