10/02/10

Norwich, Norfolk—- Three County Upper (9 wins to 10 losses) players combined for 38 points as CU held off Notre Dame School 54 – 44. This was CU’s last Norfolk/Suffolk pool game of the National Schools competition.

Playing in a hall which did not allow long range shots meant County Upper had to adjust their offence which let a strong Notre Dame team take a 26 – 24 lead into half time. The biggest lead for either team in the first half was just seven points.

During the third quarter it was much the same as the first two quarters as County Upper brought the score level at 34 – 34 by the end of the quarter. In the forth quarter CU began to break down the Notre Dame team with some great offensive and defensive possessions. County Upper went on a 8 – 2 run to open a six point lead 42 – 36, with 7:32 minutes remaining in the contest, and then finish the quarter with a 12 – 8 run which opened up a 10 point game.

County Upper School resume action on the 24th of February when they take on Beauchamp College Basketball Academy. Game time is at 4:15pm.
