County Upper Basketball Academy concluded their season by competing in the Istanbul International Basketball Tournament in Istanbul Turkey. CU opened the two-day event against I-B-B (U18) Basketball Club at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20. Besiktas U18’s and Darussafaka U18’s were battling in the other matchup at 3 p.m. The winners of the two games met at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 for the Championship, while the losers of the two games played at 12:30 p.m.
Tournament Information:
I-B-B are one of the better U18 Div 2 Junior National Teams in Turkey and will provide County Upper with a good wake up call to the level of basketball played in Turkey.
Besiktas Colaturka U18’s are currently the 6th best Div 1 Junior National Team in Turkey. Their men’s team compete in the Turkish Basketball League which is becoming known as the second best professional men’s league in Europe.
Darussafaka C Tires U18’s are currently the 8th best Div 1 Junior National Team in Turkey. Their men’s team have an average age of 20, which is the youngest average out of all the professional teams in Turkey. Darussafaka have a very good reputation in Turkey for developing junior players.
County Upper Basketball Academy is the current East of England U19 Elite Academies Champion with a record of 14 wins and 5 losses. In their first year they have been a dominant team at home finishing the season undefeated in the County Upper Sports Barn.
