Des Moines, Iowa— A fresh Grandview JV team beat a tired CU team with convincing fashion on the 1st of December in Des Moines .
Cy Williams and Nathan Muerick lead the Vikings with 14 points and 13 points respectively, while Oliver Crussell (Rochford, Essex) lead CU with 10 points in a one sided game that ended 80 – 27 to Grandview.
County Upper started the game cold and slow, letting the Vikings control the game from the opening tip. The Vikings opened up the game going on a 17 – 0 run. With CU still not able to find a rhythm, and with Grandview unable to miss from the field (shooting 66.7%) it didn’t take long for them to increase their lead to 25 points 32 – 7 with 5 minutes to go. With a final 17 – 2 run Grandview hit the locker room with a dominating 40 point lead over County Upper 49 – 9.
The second half started with CU playing a little better offensively. However, with Grandview’s strong night from the field continuing into the second half, the lead increased to 45 points 60 – 15 with a 11 – 6 run in the first 5 minutes. Then for the final 15 minutes CU finally responded on both ends, holding Grandview to 18 points while scoring 12 of their own.
County Upper will be back in action on the 2nd of Dec, when they travel to Hastings Nebraska for their fixture against Hastings College. Game time is set for 2p.m.
